SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Officer John G. Bartholomew of the
4Chicago Police Department, who died in the line of duty on
5April 25, 2026; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Officer Bartholomew, the son of George and Kiki
7(Kutulas) Bartholomew, was born in Evanston on April 21, 1988;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Officer Bartholomew was a 10-year, 11-month
10veteran of the Chicago Police Department who was assigned to
11the 17th District in Albany Park at the time of his passing; he
12was deeply dedicated to his work, serving his community with
13honor, integrity, and an unwavering sense of duty; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Officer Bartholomew had a strong love of history,
15possessed a passion for sharing his knowledge with others,
16found joy in life's simple pleasures, such as good food, and
17was a fan of the character Batman; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Officer Bartholomew lived a life defined by love,
19loyalty, and service; he was known for his generosity and his
20willingness to offer help without hesitation, and he will be
21remembered as a devoted family man who always put others

2    WHEREAS, Officer Bartholomew was preceded in death by his
3grandparents, James and Patricia Bartholomew and Rev. Fr. John
4and Presbytera Angie Kutulas; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Officer Bartholomew is survived by his wife,
6Renee (Limbers) Bartholomew; his children, Oliver Buffurine,
7Miles Buffurine, and Sophia Bartholomew; his siblings, James
8Bartholomew and Paula (Jonathan) Mueller; his in-laws; his
9aunts and uncles; his cousins; his nieces and nephews; and his
10friends and colleagues; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Officer John G. Bartholomew of the Chicago Police Department
14and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and
15all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Officer Bartholomew as an
18expression of our deepest sympathy.
