SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Marilyn Kay Hertko, who passed away on
4May 5, 2026; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marilyn Hertko was born to Delmo Govoni and
6Dorothy Govoni on December 14, 1952; she graduated from St.
7Patrick's Grade School in 1967 and St. Francis Academy in
81971; she graduated from Joliet Junior College School of
9Nursing in 1973, where she later served as a college trustee;
10she married John Hertko on August 14, 1976; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Marilyn Hertko worked as a dedicated registered
12nurse for 52 years, and she was an active member of the
13Illinois Nurses Association; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Marilyn Hertko enjoyed spending time with her
15family, relaxing on the beach on Kiawah Island, visiting Oak
16Creek Canyon in Sedona, Arizona, walking the Will County
17Forest Preserve, and spending time outside exploring nature,
18making great friends along the way; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Marilyn Hertko, known as "Mac" and "Gaga", was a
20devoted wife, mother, and grandmother; she leaned heavily on
21her faith in living a life that inspired pride and

1appreciation in all who knew her; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Marilyn Hertko was preceded in death by her
3parents; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Marilyn Hertko is survived by her husband of 49
5years, Dr. John Hertko; her children, Michael (Brittany)
6Hertko, Michelle (Johan) Haglund, and Kevin Hertko; four
7grandchildren, and numerous extended family members, friends,
8and other loved ones; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Marilyn Kay Hertko and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Marilyn Hertko as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
