SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Judith "Judy" Georgantas, who passed away on April 26, 2026; and

WHEREAS, Judith Georgantas was born to George and Olga(Malnar) Boban on August 29, 1938; and

WHEREAS, Judith Georgantas' two careers included being a travel agent with Joliet Travel and Karner Travel, and then in 1985, she added real estate, working for Karges; and

WHEREAS, Judith Georgantas and her husband enjoyed traveling around the world with family and friends, and from 1981 to 1998 she escorted groups all over the world through the College of St. Francis (now USF) continuing education nursing program; and

WHEREAS, Judith Georgantas and her husband loved to entertain and were known for some of the best parties, including "the cornfest", which became an annual event; they also never missed a sporting event or school function for their grandchildren; they enjoyed music, spending time with their grand-dog, Daisy, and volunteering for many years for the Jubilation festival, where they were co-chairs of the 1986 event; and

WHEREAS, Judith Georgantas was a long time lector at St. Mary Nativity and on the parish picnic committee; and

WHEREAS, Judith Georgantas was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. "Dick" Georgantas; her parents; her brother, Richard Boban; her in-laws, Anthony and Margaret Georgantas; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Gloria Georgantas, Betty Bick, George and Georgetta Georgantas, Clarence "Teak" and Terry Georgantas, Lorraine and Dave A'Hearn, and Don Georgantas; her aunts and uncles, Sylvia Malnar, Ray and Gloria Malnar, Bernie and Carole Malnar, Marie and Augie Krause, Don and Lela Boban, Melvin and Gretchen Boban, and Joe and Dorothy Boban Sr.; and her friends, Jean Konrad, Joann Placher, and Joyce Senffner; and

WHEREAS, Judith Georgantas is survived by her daughter, Sue (Jim) Gulas; her grandchildren, Jenny and Nick Gulas; her brother, George F. "Geordie" (Carol) Boban; her sisters-in-law, Christine Boban and Connie A'Hearn; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Judith "Judy" Georgantas and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Judith Georgantas as a symbol of our deepest sympathy.
