SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The people of Illinois and the United States of
3America deserve a government that exercises responsible
4stewardship over taxpayer dollars and ensures that public
5funds are used only for their lawful and intended purposes;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Fraud, waste, abuse, and corruption in government
8spending undermine public trust, divert resources away from
9vulnerable populations, and place unnecessary burdens on
10hardworking taxpayers; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The Medicaid program exists to provide critical
12healthcare services to eligible low-income individuals,
13seniors, people with disabilities, and vulnerable families,
14and any fraudulent misuse of Medicaid resources directly harms
15those who rely upon these essential services; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Improper payments and fraudulent activity within
17Medicaid have cost taxpayers billions of dollars nationally,
18demonstrating the need for strong oversight, robust
19enforcement mechanisms, and aggressive antifraud initiatives
20at every level of government; and
 
21    WHEREAS, President Donald Trump and Vice President JD

1Vance have taken decisive action to strengthen oversight,
2restore accountability, and aggressively pursue fraud and
3abuse within federal benefit programs, including renewed
4efforts to identify and eliminate Medicaid fraud; and
 
5    WHEREAS, These actions represent an important step toward
6restoring integrity in government spending and ensuring that
7taxpayer-funded assistance programs serve their intended
8purpose; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The previous administration under President Joe
10Biden weakened antifraud enforcement by rolling back key
11accountability measures, reducing the effectiveness of
12oversight tools, and diminishing federal efforts designed to
13detect and prevent fraud in government benefit programs; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois has a responsibility to
15fully cooperate with federal antifraud initiatives and to
16ensure the strongest possible oversight of Medicaid
17expenditures and all taxpayer-funded programs; therefore, be
18it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we express our strong
21support for ongoing federal efforts to eliminate fraud, waste,
22abuse, and corruption in government spending, including

1targeted efforts to identify and eliminate fraud within the
2Medicaid program; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That we commend President Donald Trump and Vice
4President JD Vance for their leadership and commitment to
5restoring transparency, accountability, and fiscal discipline
6in the administration of public benefit programs; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That we call upon Governor JB Pritzker, all
9relevant state agencies, and the State of Illinois to fully
10comply with all federal antifraud reviews, audits, and
11enforcement initiatives related to Medicaid and other
12taxpayer-funded programs; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That we encourage the State of Illinois to
14strengthen its own antifraud oversight tools, improve
15accountability mechanisms, and fully cooperate with efforts to
16ensure taxpayer dollars are protected from misuse; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
19delivered to Governor JB Pritzker, the Director of the
20Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services,
21President Donald Trump, and Vice President JD Vance.
