SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Dennis Eugene Laria of Elmwood Park,
4who passed away on May 20, 2026; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dennis Laria, born on January 2, 1945, was raised
6in the Taylor Street neighborhood and attended Saint Ignatius
7College Prep in Chicago; later in life, he attended DePaul
8University, where he earned his bachelor's degree at the age
9of 50; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dennis Laria spent most of his career as a vice
11president in banking, earning the trust and respect of
12colleagues and clients alike; after retiring, he continued his
13commitment to helping others through his service at Proviso
14Leyden Council for Community Action (PLCCA) in Maywood,
15supporting community programs with compassion and dedication
16for many years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dennis Laria, while working towards his
18bachelor's degree, earned a black belt in tae kwon do,
19reflecting his discipline and perseverance; he was also a
20dedicated runner for many years and completed multiple
21marathons, embracing the challenge and joy of long-distance
22running; and

1    WHEREAS, Dennis Laria loved traveling and spent many years
2exploring the world with his wife, Alice, and he especially
3cherished their many trips to Italy with family; he also
4valued the long-term friendships that enriched his life,
5maintaining close childhood and adult friendships that lasted
6until his passing; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dennis Laria was a devoted husband, an adoring
8father, and a loving cousin, uncle, and friend to many; he will
9be remembered for his thoughtfulness, intelligence, dignity,
10and the rare ability to accept everyone without judgment; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dennis Laria was preceded in death by his mother,
12Antoinette Laria, and his brother, Joseph Laria; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dennis Laria is survived by his wife of 60 years,
14Alice Laria; his daughters, Denise (John) Laria Burns,
15Jennifer (Mark) Siddons, and Amy Laria; six grandchildren; and
16his great-granddaughter; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Dennis Eugene Laria and extend our sincere condolences to his
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
21further
