SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Kamaria Laurette Gross, who passed
4away on April 26, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kamaria Gross was born to Karen Laurette Bozeman
6and James Oliver Gross in Chicago on January 24, 1984; she
7attended the Beasley Academy Center; she graduated from
8Whitney Young High School with honors in 2002, where she was
9involved in extracurricular activities, including as a member
10of the dance team and co-captain of the pompon squad; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Kamaria Gross attended business school and earned
12a bachelor's degree from the school of communications at
13Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she was inducted
14into the Global Ambassadors Program, traveling to Austria, the
15Czech Republic, and Hungary and was a member of the Alpha Kappa
16Alpha Sorority, Alpha Chapter; she later received a master's
17degree in human resources from Loyola Business School in May
182011; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Kamaria Gross completed two summer internships at
20the Chicago Housing Authority; she also worked in human
21resources at the University of Chicago Regenstein Library,
22with vendor compliance at the Chicago Housing Authority, and

1in vender contract compliance and management with the security
2department of the Chicago Transit Authority; and
 
 
3    WHEREAS, Kamaria Gross is survived by her parents; her
4daughter, Kaiden Collins; her partner and friend, Michael
5Collins; her siblings, Jabari Gross and Robyn Wheatley McCoy;
6her aunts, Melissa Bozeman Wolfsohn, Levada Gross Moore, and
7Evelyn Gross; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Kamaria Laurette Gross and extend our sincere condolences to
12her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Kamaria Gross as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
