SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Clettis Allen, who passed away on
4January 8, 2026; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Clettis Allen was born to Reverend David Allen
6Sr. and Alice Allen in Chicago on November 24, 1961; he
7graduated from James H. Bowen High School in 1979; he enlisted
8in the United States Army, serving as an army gunner for two
9years; he married Phyllis McCraven on November 24, 2020; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Clettis Allen held various positions over the
11years while passionately serving those in need; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Clettis Allen was an avid fan of Chicago sports
13teams; he enjoyed hosting parties and events, including
14Narcotics Anonymous functions and comedy shows; he loved
15singing, watching movies, and playing dominoes and card games;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Clettis Allen, affectionately known as "Big C" or
18"Clet", possessed a great sense of humor and a passionate and
19forgiving spirit; he will be remembered for his smile and his
20caring nature; and

1    WHEREAS, Clettis Allen was preceded in death by his father
2and his brothers, David Allen Jr. and Bobby Allen Sr; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Clettis Allen is survived by his mother; his
4wife, Phyllis McCraven-Allen; his brother, Anthony (Peggy)
5Allen; his children, Shavon (Ralph) Parker, Dionna Allen,
6Clettis Michael (Geena) Allen, and their mother, Debra House;
7his child, Lakendrick Clettis Allen, and his child's mother,
8Lakeisha Moman; eight grandchildren; three stepchildren; five
9step-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, uncles,
10aunts, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Clettis Allen and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Clettis Allen as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
