| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Alice Allen; and |
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Alice Allen was born to Anthony and Queenie Dumas |
| 5 | | in Thomaston, Alabama on March 28, 1937; she committed to her |
| 6 | | faith at an early age and was baptized at Salem Baptist Church |
| 7 | | in Orrville, Alabama; she graduated from Keith High School in |
| 8 | | 1955; she then moved to Birmingham, Alabama; she married David |
| 9 | | Allen on June 24, 1956; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Alice Allen attended Shiloh Baptist Church on |
| 11 | | Chicago's West Side, where she sang in the choir; she |
| 12 | | proceeded to become a member of West Point Missionary Baptist |
| 13 | | Church, where she served in several ministries for 40 years, |
| 14 | | including teaching Sunday and Vacation Bible School, before |
| 15 | | attending New Progressive Baptist Church; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Alice Allen loved gardening, singing, dressing |
| 17 | | up, playing bingo, and watching daytime television; she also |
| 18 | | loved cooking, and she was especially known for her homemade |
| 19 | | ice cream and chocolate cake; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Alice Allen was a devoted wife and mother who |
| 21 | | dedicated many years to caring for and supporting others; she |
