SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 
3congratulate St. Procopius Church on the occasion of the 150th 
4anniversary of its founding; and
 
5    WHEREAS, St. Procopius Church, located in the historic 
6Pilsen community of Chicago, was founded in 1875 to serve the 
7growing population of Czech immigrants who settled in the area 
8following the Great Chicago Fire; and
 
9    WHEREAS, St. Procopius Church, over the past 150 years, 
10has evolved alongside the community, now serving a largely 
11Mexican-American and multicultural congregation while 
12remaining steadfast in its mission of faith, service, and 
13inclusion; and
 
14    WHEREAS, St. Procopius Church has contributed 
15significantly to the social and spiritual fabric of Chicago by 
16providing education, sacraments, and community outreach, 
17including a longstanding parish school and ministries that 
18have supported thousands of families across generations; and
 
19    WHEREAS, St. Procopius Church's current church building, 
20dedicated in 1883 and designed in the Romanesque architectural 
21style, stands as a lasting testament to the faith, sacrifice,

1and vision of its founders; and
 
2    WHEREAS, St. Procopius Church has been a center of 
3community life, hosting cultural and religious traditions, 
4celebrations, and events that reflect the rich heritage and 
5unity of its parishioners; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL 
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate St. 
8Procopius Church on the 150th anniversary of its founding, and 
9we wish it many more wonderful years; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to St. Procopius Church as a symbol of our respect 
12and esteem.
