1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2549
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Bill 2549 by replacing
3 everything after the enacting clause with the following:
4 "Section 5. The Mosquito Abatement District Act is
5 amended by changing Section 1 as follows:
6 (70 ILCS 1005/1) (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 74)
7 Sec. 1. Any contiguous territory having a population of
8 not less than 300 inhabitants and no part of which is already
9 included in a mosquito abatement district may be organized as
10 a mosquito abatement district in the following manner:
11 Any 5% of the legal voters within the limits of the
12 proposed mosquito abatement district may petition the circuit
13 court for the county in which such territory lies, to order
14 the question whether such territory shall be organized as a
15 mosquito abatement district under this Act to be submitted to
16 the legal voters of such territory, but every petition must
17 shall be signed by at least 25 legal voters residing within
18 the territory proposed to be organized as a mosquito
19 abatement district, and in case the such territory includes
20 more than one city, village or incorporated town, or any
21 portions thereof, or includes one or more cities, villages or
22 incorporated towns, or any portion thereof and territory not

1 a part of any city, village or incorporated town, then the
2 such petition must be signed by at least 5% of the legal
3 voters residing in each of these the said cities, villages,
4 or incorporated towns, or portions thereof, and by at least
5 5% of the legal voters residing in the territory not a part
6 of any city, village or incorporated town. Such petition
7 addressed to the court must shall contain a definite
8 description of the boundaries of the territory proposed to be
9 organized as a mosquito abatement district, and must shall
10 set forth the name of the proposed district, which name shall
11 be The.... Mosquito Abatement District.
