 1        AN ACT in relation to public aid.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid  Code  is  amended  by
 5    adding Section 9A-9.5 as follows:

 6        (305 ILCS 5/9A-9.5 new)
 7        Sec.   9A-9.5.  Health  care  advocates;  committee.  The
 8    Department of Human Services and the Department of Public Aid
 9    shall jointly establish an interagency committee  to  do  the
10    following:
11             (1)  Assist     the     departments     in    making
12        recommendations on incorporating  health  care  advocates
13        into  education,  training,  and placement programs under
14        this Article. The advocates should be individuals who are
15        knowledgeable about various  types  of  health  insurance
16        programs.
17             (2)  Develop more outreach and educational materials
18        to  help  TANF  families make informed choices concerning
19        health insurance and health care.  The  materials  should
20        target  families  that  are transitioning from receipt of
21        public aid to employment.
22             (3)  Develop methods  to  simplify  the  process  of
23        applying for medical assistance under Article V.

24        Section  99.  Effective  date. This Act takes effect upon
25    becoming law.
