| "Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management |

| Act is amended by changing Section 4 as follows:

| (110 ILCS 520/4) (from Ch. 144, par. 654)

| Sec. 4. Members of the Board shall serve without |
| 8 |
| compensation but
shall be entitled to reasonable amounts for |
| 9 |
| expenses necessarily incurred
in the performance of their |
| 10 |
| duties. Such expenses incurred by any non-voting
student member |
| 11 |
| may, at the discretion of the Chairman of the Board, be |
| 12 |
| provided
for by advance payment to such member, who shall |
| 13 |
| account therefor to the
Board immediately after each meeting.
|
| 14 |
| No member of the Board shall hold or be employed in or |
| 15 |
| appointed
to any office or place under the authority of the |
| 16 |
| Board, nor shall
any member of the Board be directly or |
| 17 |
| indirectly
interested in any contract made by the Board, nor |
| 18 |
| shall
he be an employee of the State or Federal Government. |
| 19 |
| This section
does not prohibit the student members of the Board |
| 20 |
| from maintaining
normal and official status as enrolled |

| students or normal student
employment at Southern Illinois |
