    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3835, AS AMENDED,

with reference to page and line numbers of Senate Amendment No.

1, on page 1, line 8, after "3-806.4", by inserting "and adding 
5
Sections 3-663 "; and

on page 17, below line 14, by inserting the following:

    "(625 ILCS 5/3-663 new)

    Sec. 3-664. Road Worker Safety license plates.
9
    (a) In addition to any other special license plate, the 
10
Secretary, upon
receipt of all applicable fees and applications 
11
made in the form prescribed by
the Secretary of State, may 
12
issue Road Worker Safety license plates to
residents of 
13
Illinois who meet eligibility requirements prescribed by the

14
Secretary of State.  The special Road Worker Safety plate issued 
15
under this
Section shall be affixed only to passenger vehicles 
16
of the first division and motor vehicles of the second division 
17
registered in accordance with subsection (a) of Section 3-815 
18
of this Code.
19
    (b) The design, color, and format of the plates shall be 
20
wholly
within the discretion of the Secretary of State.  The 
21
Secretary may, in his or
her discretion, allow the plates to be 
22
issued as vanity or personalized plates
in accordance with 
23
Section 3-405.1 of this Code.  The plates are not required
to 
24
designate "Land Of Lincoln", as prescribed in subsection (b) of

Section
3-412 of this Code.  The Secretary shall prescribe the 
2
eligibility requirements
and, in his or her discretion, shall 
3
approve and prescribe stickers or decals
as provided under 
4
Section 3-412.

    (c) An applicant shall be charged a $40 fee for original 
6
issuance, in
addition to the appropriate registration fee or 
7
the fee designated in subsection (a) of Section 3-815. Of this 
8
additional fee, $15 shall be
deposited into the Secretary of 
9
State Special License Plate Fund and $25 shall be deposited 
10
into the Transportation Safety Highway Hire-back Fund.
11
    For each registration renewal period, a $27 fee, in 
12
addition to the appropriate registration fee or the fee 
13
designated in subsection (a) of Section 3-815, shall be 
14
charged. Of this additional fee, $2 shall be deposited into the 
15
Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund and $25 shall be 
16
deposited into the Transportation Safety Highway Hire-back 
17
Fund.".
