Amends the Community Health Center Expansion Act. Provides for an additional
3 years of funding (after an initial 3-year grant) for community health centers
through
grants from the Department of Public Health, subject to appropriation. Provides
for
funding at a level of 50% of a grantee's third-year-grant amount under the
initial grant.
Requires that such community health centers demonstrate continued financial
need.
Effective immediately.

| AN ACT in relation to health.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Community Health Center Expansion Act is |
5 |
| amended by adding
Section 10.5 as follows:
|

| (410 ILCS 66/10.5 new)
|
7 |
| Sec. 10.5. Sustainability funding. Sustaining funds shall |
8 |
| be available to
grantees
under Section 10 that have met the |
9 |
| initial proposed project objectives and can
demonstrate |
10 |
| continued financial need. These funds shall be provided by the
|
11 |
| Department
for a 3-year period, subject to appropriation. Funds |
12 |
| granted each year under
this Section
shall be equal to 50% of a |
13 |
| grantee's third-year-grant funding under subsection
(b) of
|
14 |
| Section 10. The Department shall adopt rules and criteria to |
15 |
| allow grantees to
apply for
continued sustainability funding |
16 |
| under this Section.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
18 |
| becoming law. |
