Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that, if a person is convicted of a felony or misdemeanor under any law of this State and he or she used a vehicle in the commission of the offense, the court has discretion to order suspension of the person's driving privileges, for not more than 6 months for a first offense in which a vehicle was used, and for not more than one year for a second or subsequent offense in which a vehicle was used.

| AN ACT concerning vehicles.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding |
5 |
| Section 6-206.3 as follows: |

| (625 ILCS 5/6-206.3 new) |

| Sec. 6-206.3. Court-ordered suspension of driving |
8 |
| privileges; use of a vehicle in the commission of a criminal |
9 |
| offense. |

| (a) A court may order the suspension of the driving |
11 |
| privileges of any person convicted of a misdemeanor or felony |
12 |
| under any law of this State if the person used a vehicle in |
13 |
| committing the offense. The court may order suspension of the |
14 |
| person's driving privileges for not more than 6 months for a |
15 |
| first offense in which a vehicle was used. The court may order |
16 |
| suspension of the person's driving privileges for not more than |
17 |
| one year for a second or subsequent offense in which a vehicle |
18 |
| was used. |

| (b) The clerk of the circuit court shall forward the |
20 |
| court's order to the Secretary of State. |
21 |
| (c) The Secretary shall suspend the person's driving |
22 |
| privileges in accordance with the court's order.
