    AN ACT concerning health insurance.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 
3
represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by 
5
changing Section 356h
as follows:

    (215 ILCS 5/356h)  (from Ch. 73, par. 968h)

    Sec. 356h. Adopted children. No individual or group policy 
8
of accident
and health
insurance which covers the insured's 
9
immediate family or children, as well
as covering the insured, 
10
shall exclude a child from coverage or limit
coverage for a 
11
child solely because the child is an adopted child, or
solely 
12
because the child does not reside with the insured. For 
13
purposes of
this Section, a child who is in the custody of the 
14
insured, pursuant to an
interim court order of adoption or, in 
15
the case of group insurance, placement
of adoption, whichever 
16
comes first, vesting temporary care of the child in
the

17
insured, is an adopted child, regardless of whether a final 
18
order granting
adoption is ultimately issued.
