| AN ACT in relation to urban problems.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 10. The Urban Renewal Consolidation Act of 1961 is |
| 5 |
| amended by
changing Section 4 as follows:
|

| Sec. 4. Municipal department of urban renewal. The |
| 8 |
| governing body of
any municipality having more than 500,000
|
| 9 |
| inhabitants, as determined by the last preceding Federal |
| 10 |
| census, and in
which there exist both a land clearance |
| 11 |
| commission and a conservation
board, by ordinance adopted by a |
| 12 |
| majority of its members, may determine
that there is need to |
| 13 |
| consolidate the functions of the land clearance
commission and |
| 14 |
| of the conservation board in a single body and provide for
the |
| 15 |
| creation of a Department of Urban Renewal to operate within the
|
| 16 |
| boundaries of such municipality pursuant to the provisions of |
| 17 |
| this Act.
