| AN ACT concerning veterans.
|
| 2 |
| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Disabled Veterans Housing Act is amended by |
| 5 |
| changing Section 1 as follows:
|
| 6 |
| (330 ILCS 65/1) (from Ch. 126 1/2, par. 58)

| Sec. 1. Eligibility for assistance.
Any veteran of the |
| 8 |
| military or naval service of the United States
who was a |
| 9 |
| resident of this State at the time he or she entered such |
| 10 |
| service and
who has been approved by the Administrator of |
| 11 |
| Veterans' Affairs for
assistance under Chapter 21 of Title 38, |
| 12 |
| United States Code, as now or
hereafter amended, shall be |
| 13 |
| entitled to receive assistance under this
Act for the purpose |
| 14 |
| of acquiring within this State or without this State,
where due |
| 15 |
| to service-connected disabilities and upon the advice or
|
| 16 |
| recommendation of a duly recognized physician of the Veterans
|
| 17 |
| Administration in order to protect the health of the veteran, |
| 18 |
| such veteran
cannot reside in this State, a suitable dwelling |
| 19 |
| unit with special fixtures
or movable facilities made necessary |
| 20 |
| by the veteran's permanent and total
service-connected |
| 21 |
| disability.
