| AN ACT in relation to insurance.
|
| 2 |
| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Illinois Health Insurance Portability and |
| 5 |
| Accountability Act
is amended by changing Section 15 as |
| 6 |
| follows:
|

| Sec. 15. Applicability and scope.
This Act applies to all |
| 9 |
| health insurance policies and all health service
contracts |
| 10 |
| issued, renewed, or delivered for issuance or renewal in this |
| 11 |
| State
by a health insurance issuer after July 1, 1997
the |
| 12 |
| effective date of
this Act. Unless
otherwise
specifically |
| 13 |
| provided by this Act, the standards and requirements imposed by
|
| 14 |
| this Act shall supersede and replace any and all conflicting, |
| 15 |
| inconsistent or
less restrictive standards or requirements |
| 16 |
| contained in the Illinois Insurance
Code, the Health |
| 17 |
| Maintenance Organization Act, the Limited Health Service
|
| 18 |
| Organization Act, and the Voluntary Health Services Plans Act.
