| AN ACT concerning child custody.
|
| 2 |
| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly: |
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Uniform Child-Custody Jurisdiction and |
| 5 |
| Enforcement Act is amended by changing Section 112 as follows:

| Sec. 112. Cooperation Between Courts; Preservation
Of |
| 8 |
| Records.
|
| 9 |
| (a) A court of this State may request the appropriate court |
| 10 |
| of another state
to:
|
| 11 |
| (1) hold an evidentiary hearing;
|
| 12 |
| (2) order a person to produce or give evidence pursuant |
| 13 |
| to procedures of
that state;
|
| 14 |
| (3) order that an evaluation be made with respect to |
| 15 |
| the custody of a
child involved in a pending proceeding;
|
| 16 |
| (4) forward to the court of this State a certified copy |
| 17 |
| of the transcript
of the record of the hearing, the |
| 18 |
| evidence otherwise presented, and any
evaluation prepared |
| 19 |
| in compliance with the request; and
|
| 20 |
| (5) order a party to a child-custody proceeding or any |
| 21 |
| person having
physical custody of the child to appear in |
| 22 |
| the proceeding with or without the
child.
|
| 23 |
| (b) Upon request of a court of another state, a court of |
| 24 |
| this State may hold
a hearing or enter an order described in |
| 25 |
| subsection (a).
|
| 26 |
| (c) Travel and other necessary and reasonable expenses |
| 27 |
| incurred under
subsections (a) and (b) may be assessed against |
| 28 |
| the parties according to the
law of this State.
|
| 29 |
| (d) A court of this State shall preserve the pleadings, |
| 30 |
| orders, decrees,
records of hearings, evaluations, and other |
| 31 |
| pertinent records with respect to a
child-custody
proceeding |
| 32 |
