Amends the Emergency Telephone System Act. Requires the Illinois Commerce Commission to establish the minimum number of answering positions required for each primary public safety answering point (PSAP) using a formula that takes into account the population of the county or municipality served by the PSAP and the volume of calls actually received by the PSAP.

| AN ACT concerning emergency telephone systems.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Emergency Telephone System Act is amended by |
| 5 |
| adding Section 4.5 as follows: |
| 6 |
| (50 ILCS 750/4.5 new) |
| 7 |
| Sec. 4.5. Answering positions; minimum number required. |
| 8 |
| (a) For purposes of this Section, "PSAP" or "Public Safety |
| 9 |
| Answering Point" means the initial answering location of a 911 |
| 10 |
| call. |
| 11 |
| (b) The minimum number of answering positions required for |
| 12 |
| each public safety answering point shall be established by the |
| 13 |
| Commission using a formula that takes into account (i) the |
| 14 |
| population of the county or municipality served by the PSAP and |
| 15 |
| (ii) the volume of calls actually received by the PSAP.
