    Amends the Emergency Telephone System Act. Requires the Illinois Commerce Commission to establish the minimum number of answering positions required for each primary public safety answering point (PSAP) using a formula that takes into account the population of the county or municipality served by the PSAP and the volume of calls actually received by the PSAP.

    AN ACT concerning emergency telephone systems.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Emergency Telephone System Act is amended  by 
5
adding Section 4.5 as follows:

    (50 ILCS 750/4.5  new)

    Sec. 4.5. Answering positions; minimum number required.

    (a) For purposes of this Section, "PSAP" or  "Public Safety 
9
Answering Point" means the initial answering location of a 911 
10
call.

    (b) The minimum number of answering positions required for 
12
each public safety answering point shall be established by the 
13
Commission using a formula that takes into account (i) the 
14
population of the county or municipality served by the PSAP and 
15
(ii) the volume of calls actually received by the PSAP.
