SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
25 ILCS 120/5.6 new

    Amends the Compensation Review Act. Provides that any person who takes office for a term beginning on or after the bill's effective date and whose compensation is determined by the Compensation Review Board may not receive a cost of living adjustment authorized by or based upon Senate Joint Resolution 192 of the 86th General Assembly. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning finance.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Compensation Review Act is amended by adding
5 Section 5.6 as follows:
 
6     (25 ILCS 120/5.6 new)
7     Sec. 5.6. Certain COLA's prohibited. Notwithstanding any
8 other provision of this Act, any other law, any resolution of
9 the General Assembly, or any report of the Compensation Review
10 Board to the contrary, those persons taking office for a term
11 beginning on or after the effective date of this amendatory Act
12 of the 93rd General Assembly as members of the General
13 Assembly, judges (with respect to other than the county
14 supplement), State's attorneys (with respect to other than the
15 county supplement), elected constitutional officers of State
16 government, and certain appointed officers of State
17 government, including members of State departments, agencies,
18 boards, and commissions whose annual compensation is
19 determined by the Board, are prohibited from receiving and
20 shall not receive any increase in compensation based on a cost
21 of living adjustment, as authorized by or based upon Senate
22 Joint Resolution 192 of the 86th General Assembly, for or
23 during any term of office beginning on or after the effective
24 date of this amendatory Act of the 93rd General Assembly.
 
25     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
26 becoming law.
