093_HR0081 LRB093 11018 KEF 11684 r 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of Eddie 4 Lee Jefferson on February 16, 2002 at the age of 82; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Jefferson was born on January 15, 1921 in 6 Scotts, Alabama to Lovie and Thomas Jefferson; he was the 7 second to youngest boy of fifteen children; and 8 WHEREAS, Mr. Jefferson was employed with Burnside Steel 9 Foundry for 35 years, and retired in 1985; he was a veteran 10 of the United States Army and during World War II he 11 participated in the D-Day invasion and took part in the 12 liberation of France; and 13 WHEREAS, Mr. Jefferson united with Carter Temple CME 14 Church in 1964 and became a church steward; and 15 WHEREAS, Mr. Jefferson was affectionately known as 16 "Honey" to his friends and family; his passing will be deeply 17 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his sister, 18 Roberta "Sis" Jefferson-Moore (James); his sons, Paul 19 Jefferson (Ann) and Derrick Jefferson (Toni); his daughters, 20 Edna Wilkins (James) and Bernadine Walker (Earl); his 21 stepsons, Levi Pinkston (Louvenia) and Charles Pinston 22 (Donna); and a host of grandchildren, great-granchildren, 23 nieces, and nephews; and 24 WHEREAS, Mr. Jefferson was preceded in death by his 25 parents, Lovie and Thomas Jefferson; his loving wife, 26 Savannah Ash; and eleven of his sibling; therefore, be it 27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 28 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 29 we mourn the death of Eddie Lee Jefferson and extend our 30 sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it 31 further -2- LRB093 11018 KEF 11684 r 1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 2 presented to the family of Eddie Lee Jefferson with our 3 deepest sympathy.
