1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives offer our sincere congratulations to Larry
4 Weck on his retirement as Superintendent of Addison School
5 District 4; and
6 WHEREAS, Larry Weck, together with his wife, has raised
7 seven children; and
8 WHEREAS, Since graduating from Eastern Illinois
9 University with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1963,
10 Larry has been working to improve the educational system; and
11 WHEREAS, Larry has gone on to receive not only his Master
12 of Science in Education from Northern Illinois University but
13 also obtained his Doctorate in Education from the University
14 of Illinois; and
15 WHEREAS, His work in the educational field began in 1963
16 as a mathematics teacher in School District 25, where he
17 later became the guidance director and then went on to work
18 as a District Research and Testing Consultant; and
19 WHEREAS, In 1970, he became the Coordinator in the
20 Educational Placement Office for the University of Illinois;
21 and
22 WHEREAS, He returned to DuPage County in 1973 and served
23 as the Assistant Principal before he became Principal for
24 Addison Trail High School; and
25 WHEREAS, Since 1983, Larry has been the Superintendent of
26 Schools for Addison School District 4; and
27 WHEREAS, As Superintendent, Larry supervised the
28 education of 3,900 students, preschool through grade 8, and
29 the development of 264 staff members; and

1 WHEREAS, Larry created a special process for collective
2 bargaining that resulted in the District's first early
3 settlement of a three-year contract and the first two
4 three-year contracts and created an early retirement program
5 for staff; and
6 WHEREAS, He was influential in the development of
7 technology to improve learning, communications, e-mail, and
8 Internet for all staff and classrooms; and
9 WHEREAS, Larry serves as President of the University of
10 Illinois Educational Administration Alumni Association,
11 chairperson of several North Central Evaluation teams,
12 President of the Superintendent's Roundtable, and chairperson
13 of the DuPage Education Service Region Board of Control; he
14 was appointed to the State Task Force on School Finance and
15 has presented at State and national level conventions; and
16 WHEREAS, Larry Weck's dedication to improving education
17 in Illinois is a source of inspiration to the entire
18 community and State; therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21 we do hereby offer our congratulations to Larry Weck on the
22 occasion of his retirement and wish him well in his future
23 endeavors; and be it further
24 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
25 presented to Larry Weck and his family.
