 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  general  homestead  exemption  allowed  to
 3    homeowners in Cook County is $4,500;  the  general  homestead
 4    exemption  allowed  to  homeowners in all counties other than
 5    Cook County is $3,500; and

 6        WHEREAS, The senior citizens homestead exemption  allowed
 7    to  eligible  homeowners in Cook County is $2,500; the senior
 8    citizens homestead exemption allowed to  eligible  homeowners
 9    in  all  counties other than Cook County is $2,000; therefore
10    be it

11        RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE  NINETY-
12    THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge
13    the Department of Revenue to study the fiscal impact on units
14    of  local  government  if the general homestead exemption and
15    the senior citizens homestead exemption  were  increased  for
16    all counties, other than Cook County, to the level allowed in
17    Cook County; and be it further

18        RESOLVED, That the Department of Revenue shall report its
19    findings  to  the  General  Assembly  upon  completion of the
20    study; and be it further

21        RESOLVED, That suitable  copies  of  this  resolution  be
22    presented to the Director of Revenue.
