093_HR0199 LRB093 11438 HSS 14269r 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The highest award the National Council of the 3 Boy Scouts of America can bestow upon a Scout is that of 4 Eagle Scout; and 5 WHEREAS, Matthew Bauman of Boy Scout Troop 43, in 6 Highland, will receive the Eagle Scout Award at a Court of 7 Honor to be held on April 13, 2003, at 2 p.m.; and 8 WHEREAS, Matthew first began his trip to Eagle Scout by 9 joining Boy Scouts on May 31, 1998; he became a Tenderfoot on 10 June 16, 1998 and progressed through Second Class to First 11 Class on March 14, 2000; he became a Star Scout on July 19, 12 2000 and a Life Scout on January 23, 2001; and 13 WHEREAS, In order to qualify as an Eagle Scout, a young 14 man must demonstrate outstanding qualities of leadership, a 15 willingness to be of help to others, and superior skills in 16 camping, lifesaving, and first aid; and 17 WHEREAS, In earning this high rank, Matthew joins an 18 elite and honorable fraternity of achievers that counts among 19 its members an extraordinary number of this nation's great 20 leaders in business, government, education, and other sectors 21 of society; and 22 WHEREAS, The achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout 23 reflects favorably upon the recipient, his justly proud 24 family, his Scoutmaster, and his fellow scouts; therefore, be 25 it 26 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 27 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 28 we join his family and friends in congratulating Matthew 29 Bauman upon attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout and 30 commend him upon the unswerving dedication to excellence that 31 is the hallmark of the Eagle Scout; and be it further -2- LRB093 11438 HSS 14269r 1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 2 presented to Eagle Scout Matthew Bauman as an expression of 3 our respect and esteem.
