093_HR0382 LRB093 12125 HSS 17023 r 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School is run 3 by the Sisters of Mercy; recently, the Mother McAuley Liberal 4 Arts High School Mighty Macs water polo team convincingly won 5 a second straight Illinois High School Association (IHSA) 6 State Championship; and 7 WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs successfully completed their 8 2003 season with a victory over a fine Mundelein High School 9 team in the final game of the IHSA State Tournament with a 10 score of 18 to l2; and 11 WHEREAS, The Macs polo team finished their 2003 season 12 with an impressive record of 27 wins and only 3 losses, each 13 one to a tough Fenwick team; and 14 WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs polo team is a strong team 15 because each member understands the importance of working 16 together as a team and being positive and supportive to each 17 other; and 18 WHEREAS, The 2003 Macs polo team members, Bianca Cabrera, 19 Jade Cabrera, Maggie Coghlan, Ashley Colby, Erin Delaney, 20 Katie Egan, Megan Garmes, Emily Ginger, Kellianne Grant, 21 Amanda Grunauer, Taylor Kedzior, Colleen Mixan, Megan 22 O'Connell, Sandra Perez, Kathleen Reilly, Megan Quinn, and 23 Ashley Whirity, displayed awesome athleticism, genuine 24 "sportswomanship", and true class in each and every athletic 25 contest; and 26 WHEREAS, Coaches Colleen McShane, Maura Tiernan, and 27 Nancy O'Brien-Kane; Athletic Director Nancy Pedersen; 28 Principal Sr. Rose Wiorek; and all the faculty and students 29 of Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School provided 30 inspiration, guidance, and support so important in an 31 athletic achievement of this magnitude; and -2- LRB093 12125 HSS 17023 r 1 WHEREAS, All past and present students, faculty, staff 2 and supporters of the Macs, all Chicago residents, and 3 citizens of Illinois, must be proud of the dedication, 4 character, spirit, and resolve of the Macs; and 5 WHEREAS, All the team members, coaches, and supporters of 6 the Macs polo team have learned that anything in life can be 7 achieved through teamwork; therefore, be it 8 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 9 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 10 we congratulate each and every team member and coach and all 11 teachers and students of Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High 12 School upon winning back to back State water polo 13 championships in 2002 and 2003; and be it further 14 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this preamble and 15 resolution be sent to the coaches, athletic director, 16 principal, and each team member of the Mother McAuley Liberal 17 Arts High School water polo team.
