| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Don |
| 4 |
| Lashmet of Catlin on November 22, 2003; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Lashmet, a Winchester native, was a running |
| 6 |
| back at Western Illinois University and was fifth in the nation |
| 7 |
| in receiving among small schools as a senior in 1955; he is |
| 8 |
| still ranked in the WIU top 10 in receiving and scoring, and he |
| 9 |
| was inducted into the Western Illinois Hall of Fame in 1985; |
| 10 |
| and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, He was the football coach at Catlin High School |
| 12 |
| for 20 years; he had a 123-63-3 record and led the Wolverines |
| 13 |
| to eight East Central Conference championships and eight |
| 14 |
| playoff appearances; he was inducted into the Illinois Football |
| 15 |
| Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1997; he coached the |
| 16 |
| school's track team to a State championship in the 4x800 meter |
| 17 |
| relay in 1980; he was also a history and physical education |
| 18 |
| teacher; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Don Lashmet will be deeply felt by |
| 20 |
| many, especially his wife, Patricia; his daughters, Kim, |
| 21 |
| Kelley, Kristy, and Katrina; his eight grandchildren; his many |
| 22 |
| friends; and the many young people who benefited from his |
| 23 |
| teaching and leadership; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 25 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 26 |
| mourn the death of Don Lashmet along with all who knew and |
| 27 |
| loved him and extend our sincere condolences to his family and |
| 28 |
| friends; and be it further
|

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
