HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to honor milestone dates in the 
4
history of organizations in the State of Illinois; and
 
5
    

WHEREAS, The Illinois Association of the Benevolent 
6
Protective Order of Elks is celebrating its 100th Anniversary 
7
in 2004; and
 

8
    WHEREAS, For 100 years the members of the Illinois Elks 
9
Association have raised and disbursed funds to charitable 
10
causes including: the World War II Memorial, Scholarships for 
11
Illinois Students, Illinois Elks Crippled Children Corps, the 
12
Elks National Foundation, and other local charitable events; 
13
and
 
14
    

WHEREAS, The Illinois Elks Association implemented the 
15
Grand Lodge Army of Hope program to assist veterans and their 
16
families and is a key supporter of Veterans Homes throughout 
17
Illinois with Elks Members routinely ensuring that our Veterans 
18
are in a homelike setting; and


 
19
    WHEREAS, The Illinois Elks Association organizes Training 
20
Sessions to instruct and guide emerging leaders in Local Lodges 
21
of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks in civic promotion 
22
and fundraising for charitable causes; and


 
23
    WHEREAS, An integral theme of the training of the Illinois 
24
Elks Association is to return to Illinois communities to do 
25
good work by contributing thousands of hours annually in each 
26
community for charitable causes; and


 
27
    WHEREAS, The Illinois Elks Association provides the 
28
leadership to teach hundreds of men and women each year to take 
29
leadership roles in communities across the State of Illinois;

WHEREAS, The Illinois Elks Association also prepares 
3
leadership through the District and State Committee Chairs to 
4
preserve the history of good works and charity that has become 
5
synonymous with the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks; and
 
6
    

WHEREAS, The current Officers of the Illinois Elks 
7
Association are: President Bill Voigts of Joliet 296; First 
8
Vice President Bill Marsh of Quincy 100; Second Vice President 
9
Paul Ronzani of Chicago North Shore 1316; Third Vice President 
10
Charles Campbell of Carbondale 1243; Secretary Marvin Leathers 
11
of Mt. Vernon 819; and Treasurer Gene White of Centralia 493; 
12
and


 
13
    WHEREAS, The Illinois Association of the Benevolent 
14
Protective Order of Elks will be hosting its 100th Anniversary 
15
Celebration in Springfield January 29 through February 1, 2004; 
16
therefore be it
; and

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
18
NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
19
recognize and congratulate the Illinois Association of the 
20
Benevolent Protective Order of Elks on their 100th Anniversary; 
21
and be it further

 
22
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
23
presented to the members of the Illinois Association of 
24
Benevolent Protective Order of Elks at their 100th Anniversary 
25
celebration.
