| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, Music in the schools of Illinois is designed to |
| 3 |
| bring about recognition of the vital place of music in the |
| 4 |
| education process; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Music is a powerful and aesthetic force that gives |
| 6 |
| our young people a sense of civilization because it dignifies |
| 7 |
| the realm of feeling by merging intellect and emotion in the |
| 8 |
| search for a humane way of life; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Music is a basic influence in the lives of |
| 10 |
| millions of people who participate in creating, performing, and |
| 11 |
| listening experiences developed through music in the schools; |
| 12 |
| and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Music in our Schools Month is a special |
| 14 |
| opportunity for citizens to understand and support the ongoing |
| 15 |
| process of music education; therefore, be it
|
| 16 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 17 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 18 |
| designate March of 2004 as "Music in our Schools" Month in the |
| 19 |
| State of Illinois.
