| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives congratulate Robert Quick of Boy Scout Troop |
4 |
| 901 who was named the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Department |
5 |
| of Illinois "Eagle Scout of the Year" for 2003; and |
6 |
| WHEREAS, Robert Quick, a Robinson High School |
7 |
| valedictorian, is the son of Larry and Phuong Quick; he joined |
8 |
| Boy Scout Troop 901 in 1991 and is currently assistant |
9 |
| scoutmaster; and |
10 |
| WHEREAS, He was sponsored by local VFW Post 4549 and |
11 |
| Auxiliary, and was selected as the winner from more than 400 |
12 |
| VFW posts in the State; he received a $200 award and a citation |
13 |
| at his troop meeting on May 6, 2003; he was cited for |
14 |
| leadership, community involvement, and his academic record; |
15 |
| and |
16 |
| WHEREAS, His Eagle Scout Service Project was to develop the |
17 |
| "Pioneer City Heritage Trail" that guides visitors to see |
18 |
| points of interest in the history of Palestine, Crawford |
19 |
| County, and Illinois; the trail is used for biking, hiking, and |
20 |
| education; he participated in 122 hours of service to complete |
21 |
| the project and acquired more than $1,300 in donations to fund |
22 |
| it; and |
23 |
| WHEREAS, The troop he was part of also participated in |
24 |
| organ donor and clothing drives along with the "scouting for |
25 |
| food" drive; and |
26 |
| WHEREAS, In high school, he was active in band, jazz band, |
27 |
| scholastic bowl, Beta Club, International Club, Math Team, |
28 |
| WYSE, JETS, Business Club, Computer Club, Student Senate, and |
29 |
| Interact; he also participated in the All-State Theater |

| Production on sound crew and attended the National Young |
