| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Katie Lundy, an esteemed resident of Belleville |
| 3 |
| and a student at Central Junior High School, has achieved |
| 4 |
| national recognition for exemplary volunteer service by |
| 5 |
| receiving a 2004 Prudential Spirit of the Community Award; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, This prestigious award, presented by Prudential |
| 7 |
| Financial in partnership with the National Association of |
| 8 |
| Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across |
| 9 |
| America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to |
| 10 |
| serving their communities; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Lundy earned this award by giving generously |
| 12 |
| of her time and energy to raise more than $40,000 over the past |
| 13 |
| three years through charity golf tournaments for the |
| 14 |
| Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Children's Miracle Network, and |
| 15 |
| local hospitals; she embarked on her fund-raising after |
| 16 |
| undergoing brain surgery and seeing other kids in the hospital |
| 17 |
| whom she wanted to help; therefore, be it
|
| 18 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 19 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 20 |
| congratulate and honor Katie Lundy as a recipient of a |
| 21 |
| Prudential Spirit of Community Award, and we recognize her |
| 22 |
| outstanding record of volunteer service, peer leadership, and |
| 23 |
| community spirit; and be it further
|

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 25 |
| presented to Katie Lundy as an expression of our respect and |
| 26 |
| esteem and with best wishes for her continued success and |
| 27 |
| happiness.
