| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives wish to recognize the accomplishments and |
| 4 |
| achievements of the Naperville Central High School Girls' |
| 5 |
| basketball team in the 2003-2004 season; and |
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The Naperville Central High School Girls' |
| 7 |
| Basketball Team finished first in the DuPage Valley Conference |
| 8 |
| with a 14-0 record, the Naperville Central Tip-Off Tournament, |
| 9 |
| the Dundee Crown Christmas Tournament, the Plainfield South |
| 10 |
| IHSA Regional Tournament, and the Waubonsie IHSA Sectional |
| 11 |
| Tournament; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, The Naperville Central High Schools Girls' |
| 13 |
| Basketball Team defeated Benet Academy in the University of |
| 14 |
| Illinois at Chicago's IHSA Super-sectional tournament by a |
| 15 |
| score of 59-46 to advance to the IHSA State finals; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, The team then defeated Peoria Richwoods in the |
| 17 |
| quarterfinals by a score of 61-53 and Chicago Heights-Marian in |
| 18 |
| the semi-finals by a score of 56-44; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, The team won the Class AA girls basketball |
| 20 |
| championship game by defeating Winnetka New Trier High School |
| 21 |
| in the State championship game by a score of 48-37; this was |
| 22 |
| the second consecutive State championship for the team; they |
| 23 |
| finished the 2003-2004 season as State champions with a record |
| 24 |
| of 33-2; and
|
| 25 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the team include Candace Parker, |
| 26 |
| Erica Carter, Seanna O'Malley, Gelisa Komegay (manager), |
| 27 |
| Rachel Crissy, Julie Joyce, Ashley Lowry, Christina Sahly, |
| 28 |
| Tiffany Hudson, Kristen Ludwig, Brittany Utrata, Marylee |
| 29 |
| Richardson, Lauren Grochowski, Jackie Pryor, Sarah Seward, and |
| 30 |
| Jen Maddaugh; and
