| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Richard Donahue |
| 4 |
| on the occasion of his retirement after over 40 years of |
| 5 |
| association with Danville Area Community College (DACC); and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Donahue began attending DACC as a part-time |
| 7 |
| student in August of 1963, while he was working full-time as a |
| 8 |
| broadcast engineer for WICD-TV in Champaign and Danville; he |
| 9 |
| completed his associate's degree and then began teaching |
| 10 |
| electronics part-time while continuing his broadcast |
| 11 |
| engineering job; in 1976, he was ready for a new challenge and |
| 12 |
| took on the position as director of the physical plant at DACC; |
| 13 |
| and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, In his position as director of the physical plant |
| 15 |
| for the college, Mr. Donahue was responsible for all the |
| 16 |
| physical properties, buildings, utilities, and security; he |
| 17 |
| oversaw 15 building service attendants, 8 maintenance people, |
| 18 |
| an office assistant, 6 security officers, and several part-time |
| 19 |
| students; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Donahue retired at the end of March after 27 |
| 21 |
| years as director of the physical plant; and
|
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, During his retirement, Mr. Donahue and his wife, |
| 23 |
| Jayne, plan on continuing to support the athletic teams at DACC |
| 24 |
| and hope to expand their attendance from men's and women's |
| 25 |
| basketball to include baseball, softball, and cross country; |
| 26 |
| they are boosters for the athletic program and served as |
| 27 |
| mentors and friends to many DACC students; therefore, be it
|
| 28 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 29 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 30 |
| congratulate Richard Donahue on the occasion of his retirement |
