| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives wish to welcome home the members of the 233rd |
| 4 |
| Illinois Army National Guard unit after a year of service in |
| 5 |
| Operation Iraqi Freedom; and |
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The 233rd Illinois Army National Guard, based out |
| 7 |
| of Camp Lincoln in Springfield, was activated in February 2003 |
| 8 |
| and began its tour of duty in Wisconsin and Kuwait before |
| 9 |
| arriving in Iraq; and |
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, The 233rd Military Police Company was one of the |
| 11 |
| first units into Baghdad, Iraq in April 2003 when the soldiers |
| 12 |
| began their mission patrolling the streets of Baghdad, training |
| 13 |
| and supervising Iraqi police, and conducting raids; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Members of the 233rd unit were awarded nineteen |
| 15 |
| bronze stars, a Purple Heart, and four non-combat Soldiers |
| 16 |
| Medals; and |
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, On April 25, 2004 family and friends welcomed |
| 18 |
| members of this company as they arrived at their home base at |
| 19 |
| Camp Lincoln following fourteen months of deployment; and |
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Twenty-eight soldiers from the original 233rd |
| 21 |
| unit continue to serve in Iraq after being transferred to other |
| 22 |
| units; and
|
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, The members of this company serve our nation with |
| 24 |
| honor and pride and are owed an immense measure of gratitude; |
| 25 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 28 |
| welcome home the courageous men and women of the 233rd Military |
