| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of Della |
| 4 |
| Pitt Bryant on March 24, 2004; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Della Pitt Bryant was born on October 27, 1924 in |
| 6 |
| Palmyra, North Carolina; she lived most of her life in Tarboro |
| 7 |
| and Edgecombe County, North Carolina; she graduated from |
| 8 |
| Tarboro High School and from the Rocky Mount Sanitorium as a |
| 9 |
| registered nurse in 1945; her nursing career spanned 42 years; |
| 10 |
| and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Bryant was known as "Miss Della", resulting |
| 12 |
| from her 42 years of service as a nurse in Tarboro; she worked |
| 13 |
| for the Edgecombe County Health Department, Edgecombe General |
| 14 |
| Hospital, the Tarboro City School, Long Manufacturing Company, |
| 15 |
| Beverly Health Care, and the Fountains at the Albemarie for a |
| 16 |
| number of private patients; she also nursed her mother, |
| 17 |
| mother-in-law, and husband through terminal illnesses; she |
| 18 |
| brought comfort to many through her gentle touch, the warm and |
| 19 |
| tender care she provided, the patience she always seemed to |
| 20 |
| have, her loving words and great skill, and her indomitable |
| 21 |
| spirit; and
|
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, Miss Della was often seen running around the |
| 23 |
| Tarboro area sporting gold shoes and "dancing" with delight in |
| 24 |
| sharing her time and doing some good for others in need; she |
| 25 |
| spent time visiting at convalescent centers, looking for folks |
| 26 |
| without visitors and sharing her energy with them to make their |
| 27 |
| day brighter; and
|
| 28 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Della Pitt Bryant will be deeply |
| 29 |
| felt by many, especially her four children and their spouses, |
| 30 |
| including her son Richard B. Bryant, Jr., principal of C.I. |
| 31 |
| Johnson elementary school in Aurora; her seven grandchildren; |
