| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois
are pleased to recognize outstanding citizens |
| 4 |
| of the State; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that 12 senior |
| 6 |
| citizens dedicated
to their community, country, and families, |
| 7 |
| have been selected as this year's
Jefferson County Senior |
| 8 |
| Saints and will be honored at a banquet on May 6,
2004; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, The recipients have exhibited benevolence, |
| 10 |
| community service,
compassion, and commitment to their |
| 11 |
| families, churches, country, and community
throughout their |
| 12 |
| lives and have been examples to all who know them; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, The Senior Saints program started 8 years ago when
|
| 14 |
| local philanthropist Carl Lincoln Schweinfurth was honored; |
| 15 |
| since
the program's inception, 96 Jefferson County residents |
| 16 |
| have been inducted into
the Senior Saints Hall of Fame; photos |
| 17 |
| of the winners are added to the Senior
Saints Hall of Fame |
| 18 |
| Wall; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, This year's Senior Saints are Gertie Bullock, John |
| 20 |
| Downey, Norman Edson, Joan Goldman, Ken Highsmith, Ida Mae |
| 21 |
| Jackson, Bill Ligon, Mack Piper, Sibyle Prosise, Eloise |
| 22 |
| Turrell, John Turrell, and Nancy Schutte Smith; the number
of |
| 23 |
| volunteer hours each recipient can claim are countless; |
| 24 |
| therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 26 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 27 |
| congratulate the recipients of the Jefferson County Senior |
| 28 |
| Saints Award for 2004 and thank them for their humble service |
| 29 |
| to the citizens of the State of Illinois; and be it further
