| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Oak Brook Police |
| 4 |
| Chief Allen Pisarek on the occasion of his retirement after 30 |
| 5 |
| years of service with the Oak Brook Police Department; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Chief Pisarek was born on June 8, 1947, in |
| 7 |
| Chicago; he attended St. Rita High School, graduating in 1965; |
| 8 |
| he holds an an associate's degree from the College of DuPage, a |
| 9 |
| B.A. with honors from Elmhurst College, and an M.S. degree from |
| 10 |
| Lewis University; he valiantly served his country in the U.S. |
| 11 |
| Army from 1966 to 1968 and was a decorated staff sergeant; he |
| 12 |
| served in Vietnam and among his honors was a Purple Heart; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Chief Pisarek graduated from the police academy in |
| 14 |
| Champaign in 1974; he received additional training at Elmhurst |
| 15 |
| College, Northwestern University, from the Illinois Training |
| 16 |
| Board, and the Police Executive Research Forum; he was the 18th |
| 17 |
| police chief in the State of Illinois to be awarded Police |
| 18 |
| Chief Certification by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of |
| 19 |
| Police; in 2000, he received the Public Safety Executive |
| 20 |
| Leadership Award from the Northwestern University Center for |
| 21 |
| Public Safety; and
|
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, Chief Pisarek began his career in Oak Brook in |
| 23 |
| 1974, gaining a promotion to sergeant in 1981, and becoming |
| 24 |
| lieutenant in 1987; he has been the Chief of Police since |
| 25 |
| October of 1997; and
|
| 26 |
| WHEREAS, Chief Pisarek is known for his work ethic and his |
| 27 |
| integrity; he was instrumental in the planning for a remodeled |
| 28 |
| police department, supervised the creation of a new traffic |
| 29 |
| unit to strengthen Oak Brook's community policing efforts, and |
| 30 |
| played a part in the conclusion of a contract stalemate with |
| 31 |
| the union representing the department's officers; and
