| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Carlene |
| 4 |
| Amanda Meinhardt Geisler of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Quincy, |
| 5 |
| on Wednesday, May 12, 2004; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Geisler will be remembered as a great lady |
| 7 |
| who gave of her resources and her heart to help the Quincy |
| 8 |
| community and its children; some of her favorite causes |
| 9 |
| included the Quincy YMCA and supporting young people and |
| 10 |
| programs at Chaddock, Quincy Notre Dame High School, and |
| 11 |
| Culver-Stockton College, where she served on the Board of |
| 12 |
| Trustees since 1983; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Geisler's giving reached far beyond |
| 14 |
| financial contributions; she participated in the organizations |
| 15 |
| that she believed in supporting; she and her husband, Harry, |
| 16 |
| attended ball games at the YMCA, cheering and supporting young |
| 17 |
| people, many of whom they knew by name; she was known as an |
| 18 |
| advocate for the underdog; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Geisler was a long-time supporter of Chaddock |
| 20 |
| and had operated Grandma's Closet on the school campus as a way |
| 21 |
| of distributing needed items to the students year-round; and
|
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Geisler leaves behind a legacy of giving and |
| 23 |
| a challenge to those left behind to step up and fill the gap |
| 24 |
| that is left by her absence; and
|
| 25 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Carlene Amanda Meinhardt Geisler |
| 26 |
| has been deeply felt by many, especially her husband, Harry; |
| 27 |
| her daughter, Sharon Cushman; her grandchildren, Steven |
| 28 |
| Cushman and his wife Laurie and Tamara Fatheree and her husband |
| 29 |
| Arnold; her great-grandchildren, Jana, Jamie, Jennifer, |
| 30 |
| Bridget, and Chelsie; and her sister, Ruth; therefore, be it
