| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois learned with great sadness of the death in |
| 4 |
| Iraq of Specialist Jeremy Ridlen on Sunday, May 23, 2004; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Specialist Ridlen valiantly served his country as |
| 6 |
| a member of the Illinois National Guard 1544th Transportation |
| 7 |
| Company headquartered in Paris; he had been serving in Iraq |
| 8 |
| since February; his twin brother, Jason Ridlen served in the |
| 9 |
| same company; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Specialist Ridlen graduated from Maroa-Forsyth |
| 11 |
| High School in 1998; he was a good musician, playing trumpet in |
| 12 |
| the band and singing in the chorus in high school; he also |
| 13 |
| enjoyed drawing, sketching, and mechanical drawing; and |
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Specialist Ridlen was attending Illinois State |
| 15 |
| University in Normal before his unit was activated and deployed |
| 16 |
| to Iraq; he attended the Peoples Church of God in Decatur; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Specialist Jeremy Ridlen has been |
| 18 |
| deeply felt by many, especially his mother, Cheryl; his father, |
| 19 |
| Ed Ridlen; his brother, Jason; and his sister, Amanda Brady; |
| 20 |
| therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 22 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 23 |
| mourn the passing of Specialist Jeremy Ridlen, and we extend |
| 24 |
| our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and all who knew |
| 25 |
| and loved him; and be it further |
| 26 |
| RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Specialist Jeremy |
| 27 |
| Ridlen and his willingness to serve our country, which led to |
| 28 |
| him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
