HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives wish to congratulate Lillian Lipsey on her 
4
100th birthday on June 9, 2004, and for her lifelong 
5
contributions to the betterment of mankind and her strong 
6
support of the State of Israel and world Jewry; and
 
7
    WHEREAS, She and her husband, Maurice, made their first 
8
gift of $25 to the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago in 
9
1935; and
 

10
    WHEREAS, Mrs. Lipsey has been giving every year since then, 
11
resulting in her being inducted as a member of the Silver 
12
Circle for 25 years of consecutive giving and then a Gold Giver 
13
for 50 years of consecutive giving; and
 

14
    WHEREAS, Mrs. Lispey is a member of the King David Society; 
15
and
 

16
    WHEREAS, She has attended the annual Standard Club and 
17
Advance and Major Gifts events annually for many years; and
 

18
    WHEREAS, She has participated in the Women's Division for 
19
many decades, attending events throughout her adult life; and
 

20
    WHEREAS, She is a member of the Women's Division's Lion of 
21
Judah society; and
 
22
    WHEREAS, Mrs. Lipsey also led and participated in 
23
fundraising efforts at Bryn Mawr Country Club and Anshe Emet 
24
Synagogue; and
 
25
    WHEREAS, She is a strong supporter of the State of Israel, 
26
having supported special fundraising efforts on behalf of the 
27
Jewish State since its founding in 1948, including the recent

Israel Emergency Campaign; and
 
2
    WHEREAS, She is a strong supporter of world Jewry, having 
3
been among the first to contribute generously to Operation 
4
Exodus as that program airlifted Ethiopian Jews to Israel; 
5
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7
NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8
congratulate Lillian Lipsey on this milestone birthday and for 
9
her lifelong devotion to the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan 
10
Chicago, the cause of world Jewry, and other philanthropic 
11
endeavors; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13
presented to Lillian Lipsey as an expression of our esteem.
