| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate the Village of |
| 4 |
| Onarga on the occasion of its sesquicentennial; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Founded in 1854, Onarga is the home of Grand |
| 6 |
| Prairie Seminary and has long been known as the educational |
| 7 |
| center of East-Central Illinois; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, This educational tradition continues through the |
| 9 |
| Onarga Military School, the Onarga Academy, the Onarga |
| 10 |
| Community School District #1, and the Iroquois West School |
| 11 |
| District #10; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Onarga, which is situated on the Mahomet Aquifer, |
| 13 |
| has abundant water resources and rich, sandy soil that produce |
| 14 |
| some of the finest agricultural crops in the world; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Onarga is also known as "The Nursery Capital of |
| 16 |
| the the Midwest", and products grown in Onarga are transported |
| 17 |
| throughout the country; therefore, be it
|
| 18 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 19 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 20 |
| congratulate the Village of Onarga on the occasion of its |
| 21 |
| sesquicentennial celebration on July 2, 3, and 4, 2004; and be |
| 22 |
| it further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 24 |
| presented to the Village of Onarga as an expression of our |
| 25 |
| respect and esteem.
