HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives offer our sincere appreciation to Jill Garrett 
4
for her tenure as Chairperson of the Illinois Council on 
5
Developmental Disabilities; and
 

6
    WHEREAS, Jill worked with the Council on Developmental 
7
Disabilities for approximately 9 years prior to being appointed 
8
Chairperson in 1999; and
 

9
    WHEREAS, Her tireless efforts have lead to countless 
10
improvements within the Council and in the developmental 
11
disability community; and
 

12
    WHEREAS, Jill's guidance lead to the restructuring of 
13
committees within the Council so that committees would be used 
14
more effectively and would be better able to function; and
 

15
    WHEREAS, Under Jill's leadership the Council released the 
16
"Gettings Report" that examined Illinois' services and care for 
17
the developmentally disabled; and
 

18
    WHEREAS, Jill has proudly championed the creation and 
19
implementation of the Illinois Life Span which is the Statewide 
20
information and advocacy coordination system for individuals 
21
with developmental disabilities and their families; and
 

22
    WHEREAS, Individuals can now receive all the information 
23
needed about services for the disabled by calling one phone 
24
number for Illinois Life Span; and
 

25
    WHEREAS, Jill's commitment to the disabled community is so 
26
strong that she will continue to serve on several committees 
27
with the Council; and

    WHEREAS, She skillfully organized a seamless transition 
2
for the new leadership by working with the new Chairperson and 
3
the Council to insure that there would be no disruption in 
4
carrying out the mission of organization; and
 

5
    WHEREAS, Jill's passion for helping those with 
6
disabilities has led to the development of landmark reforms 
7
aimed at helping those with disabilities live full and happy 
8
lives; and
 

9
    WHEREAS, The developmental disability community, Illinois 
10
Council on Developmental Disabilities, and the entire State 
11
sincerely appreciate the countless hours she has devoted to 
12
reforming the services and care provided to the disabled; 
13
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
15
NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
16
do hereby offer our appreciation to Jill Garrett; and be it 
17
further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
19
presented to Jill Garrett and her family.
