HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives offer our sincere congratulations to the 
4
United Hellenic Voters of America in honor of its 30th 
5
anniversary; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, The United Hellenic Voters of America was founded 
7
in 1974 and celebrates 30 years of success this year; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, This non-partisan civic organization was created 
9
to promote citizenship among people of Hellenic descent 
10
throughout the United States; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, The United Hellenic Voters of America has 
12
encouraged people of Hellenic descent to participate in the 
13
governmental process in their local communities; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, This organization has assisted its membership in 
15
exercising their rights, privileges and responsibilities as 
16
citizens of the United States; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, This organization has helped members of the Greek 
18
and Greek-Cypriot Community in becoming integrated in U.S. 
19
society while preserving their cultural and religious 
20
heritage; and

 
21
    WHEREAS, The United Hellenic Voters of America has helped 
22
the Greek community obtain higher education, as well as further 
23
their involvement in local, state and federal government; and

 
24
    WHEREAS, The members of this organization have helped to 
25
foster growth and preservation of our nation's democracy 
26
through civic participation; and

 
27
    WHEREAS, This organization has provided the Greek-American

community numerous services and support; and

    WHEREAS, We recognize the hard work and dedication of Dr. 
3
Dimitrios Kyriazopoulos, the National Supreme Chairman; Chris 
4
Kontos, the National President; and all the members of the 
5
United Hellenic Voters of America; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, We recognize the 30 years of service the United 
7
Hellenic Voters of America has provided to the community; 
8
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
10
NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
11
do hereby offer our congratulations to the members of the 
12
United Hellenic Voters of America; and be it further

 
13
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14
presented to the United Hellenic Voters of America and Dr. 
15
Kyriazopoulos.
