| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Zion Lutheran Church in Naperville is celebrating |
| 3 |
| its 150th anniversary in 2004; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, Zion Lutheran Church was organized in 1854; for |
| 5 |
| ten years, services were held at members' homes; the first |
| 6 |
| church was dedicated on the Sunday after Christmas in 1864; and |
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, The facilities of the current church at 11007 |
| 8 |
| South Book Road
in Naperville have enabled Zion Lutheran Church |
| 9 |
| to serve the needs of a growing community in many ways; in |
| 10 |
| addition to the Sunday services and Sunday School, the church |
| 11 |
| is growing and thriving through its Early Childhood Learning |
| 12 |
| Center, Bible classes, youth programs, young adult program, and |
| 13 |
| choir; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, During its year-long sesquicentennial |
| 15 |
| celebration, the members of Zion Lutheran Church are focusing |
| 16 |
| on the four themes of missions, education, service, and |
| 17 |
| celebration; under the church's pastor, the Rev. Dale Hauser, |
| 18 |
| the church's members are rejoicing and rededicating themselves |
| 19 |
| to the church's mission; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 21 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 22 |
| that we congratulate the Zion Lutheran Church on the occasion |
| 23 |
| of its 150th anniversary and we convey our appreciation for its |
| 24 |
| invaluable contributions to the community it serves; and be it |
| 25 |
| further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 27 |
| presented to the Zion Lutheran Church with our best wishes on |
| 28 |
| this historic occasion.
