| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives |
| 3 |
| congratulate Judge Jerry Flynn on his retirement as Resident |
| 4 |
| Circuit Judge, Randolph County, a position in which he served |
| 5 |
| from 1990 to December 3, 2004; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Judge Jerry Flynn was born May 20, 1948 to Harry |
| 7 |
| and Mary Elizabeth Flynn of East St. Louis, the third of six |
| 8 |
| children; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, He attended the Holy Angels Parish Grade School, |
| 10 |
| St. Henry's Seminary, and Lewis University, later graduating |
| 11 |
| from Illinois College in Jacksonville, where he met his wife, |
| 12 |
| the former Luana Meinders; they were married in June 1973; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, He and his wife, Luana, have three children, |
| 14 |
| Jeremy, Erin, and Christopher; and one grandson, Grant; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, After a brief stint in the National Guard, he |
| 16 |
| continued his education at St. Louis University's School of |
| 17 |
| Law, earning his Juris Doctor in 1974; in the fall of 1974, he |
| 18 |
| was accepted to the Illinois Bar Association, and soon |
| 19 |
| thereafter joined the law firm of Nehrt, Sachtleben and Fisher |
| 20 |
| in Red Bud, where he worked until his appointment as an |
| 21 |
| Associate Judge of the 20th Circuit in October 1975; at age 27, |
| 22 |
| Judge Flynn became the youngest judge in the State at that |
| 23 |
| time; and
|
| 24 |
| WHEREAS, In 1982, he received the Young Alumnus of the Year |
| 25 |
| award from Illinois College; he served as Associate Judge in |
| 26 |
| the 20th Circuit until August 1988, when he was appointed |
| 27 |
| Circuit Judge in St. Clair County; the following year, he |
| 28 |
| received a Distinguished Service Citation from Illinois |
| 29 |
| College; and
