| AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 132 by replacing |

| everything after the enacting clause with the following: |

| "Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by adding Division |

| 1-7 to Article 1 as follows:

| Division 1-7. Ineligibility for Elected County Office |

| (55 ILCS 5/1-7005 new) |
| 9 |
| Sec. 1-7005. Ineligibility for elected county office. A |
| 10 |
| person is not eligible for an elective county office if that |
| 11 |
| person is in arrears in the payment of a tax or other |
| 12 |
| indebtedness due to the county or has been convicted in any |
| 13 |
| court located in the United States of any infamous crime, |
| 14 |
| bribery, perjury, or other felony.

| 15 |
| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 16 |
| becoming law.".
