Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that the owner or owners of a
split lot that is located in and governed by 2 municipalities or that is
governed by a
municipality and
a county may disconnect a portion of the lot so that a single municipality or
county governs the entire lot.

| AN ACT concerning municipalities.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by adding |
5 |
| Section 7-3-6.2
as follows:
|

| (65 ILCS 5/7-3-6.2 new)
|

| Sec. 7-3-6.2. Split lots. Notwithstanding any other |
8 |
| provision of this Code,
the owner or owners of record of a |
9 |
| split residential lot may disconnect a
portion of the lot so
|
10 |
| that a single municipality or county governs the entire lot. |

| The owner or
owners seeking to disconnect a portion of a split |
12 |
| lot from a municipality must
petition the court in the manner |
13 |
| provided in Section 7-3-6 of this Code.
|

| For the purposes of this Section, "split lot" means a |
15 |
| single residential lot
that is located in and governed by 2 |
16 |
| municipalities or that is governed by a
municipality and a |
17 |
| county.
