| AN ACT in relation to criminal law.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by changing
|

| Section 3-1 as follows:
|

| Sec. 3-1.
Presumption of innocence and proof of guilt.

| Every person is presumed innocent until proved guilty. No |

| person shall
be convicted of any offense unless his or her |

| guilt thereof is proved
beyond a
reasonable doubt.
