| AN ACT in relation to criminal law.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Unified Code of Corrections is amended by |
| 5 |
| changing
Section 3-6-1 as follows:
|

| Sec. 3-6-1.
Institutions; Facilities; and Programs.
|

| (a) The Department shall designate those institutions and |
| 9 |
| facilities that
are
which shall be maintained for persons |

| assigned as adults and as
juveniles.

| (b) The types, number and population of institutions and |
| 12 |
| facilities
shall be determined by the needs of committed |
| 13 |
| persons for treatment and the
public for protection. All |
| 14 |
| institutions and programs shall conform to the
minimum |
| 15 |
| standards under this Chapter.
